Porto Social Summit – a New Impetus to Europe’s social commitment

The Porto Social Summit (7- 8 May) will give political impetus to the implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights and its Action Plan, underlining its central role in the European recovery and the adaptation to the climate, digital and demographic transitions. It will also provide an opportunity to reinforce dialogue with social partners, civil society organisations and with citizens.

The Social Summit will be a pivotal point in the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union and will have two key events: a High-Level Conference with broad participation and a Meeting of Leaders at the invitation of the President of the European Council. The summit will be paying particular attention to the areas of Employment, Equal Opportunities, Social Protection and Health.
